Sompo International Summer 2026 Reinsurance Claims Intern
We are seeking a Summer 2026 Reinsurance Claims Intern for the Reinsurance Claims Group in New York City, NY. The Internship Program is a 10-week development initiative designed to provide professional growth with potential long-term opportunity for successful individuals interested in the Insurance / Reinsurance industry.
What can I expect as an Intern?
- On-the-job Learning Join the Global Reinsurance Team in a niche Claims type of role. Gain valuable reinsurance claims foundation experience. Reinsurance Claims team provides support of all lines of claims arising out of the US Reinsurance portfolio.
- Responsibilities
- Gain a solid understanding of the Company's reinsurance claims practices.
- Contribute and add value to the reinsurance claims team.
- Assist with processing and triaging 'mail.'
- Assist with analyzing data and statistics.
- Assist with the review of claims set-up in reinsurance systems.
- Liaise with the Underwriting Support Team and Reinsurance Operations with data, systems and projects within the flow of the reinsurance process.
- Assist the team with special projects.
- Activities, Learning and Development Throughout the program, Interns will have the opportunity to hear from executive leaders, participate in structured, engaging leadership learnings, participate in networking events and activities with peers, members of our Executive team and outside brokerage firms, and be part of a project to present to their manager and mentor.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or degree program studying Risk Management, Finance, or related major.Interest in learning niche reinsurance contract and language skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical and quantitative and interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands.Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States without restriction.Candidates must be local to the NY / CT / NJ area and / or able to provide their own housing and transportation.Preferred QualificationsLocal applicants who can contribute / work part time in the office post the completion of the summer intern program.Salary Range : $20- $22 / hr.
