We are seeking a Senior Network Security Architect with strong expertise in Palo Alto Networks firewalls and proven state / local government experience. This is a hands-on technical engagement focused on reviewing firewall policies, configurations, interfaces, routing, NAT behavior, and zone architecture.
This position is a onsite role. Candidates must live within reliable commuting distance of the engagement.
The engagement includes up to 500 hours of work over the 3-month period.
Responsibilities
- Review Palo Alto firewall security policies and identify security gaps and misconfigurations
- Evaluate interface configurations, routing tables, VLAN assignments, and NAT policies
- Assess firewall zones and recommend improvements for segmentation and trust boundaries
- Produce detailed technical documentation and architecture diagrams
- Provide remediation guidance aligned with Palo Alto best practices
- Collaborate with technical leadership to support architecture improvements
Required Qualifications
8+ years of network security or firewall engineering experienceState or local government experience is REQUIREDDeep hands-on knowledge of Palo Alto (zones, interfaces, NAT, App-ID, routing, segmentation)Experience performing firewall audits, gap assessments, or security reviewsStrong technical documentation and diagramming skills (Visio / Lucidchart)Certifications preferred : PCNSE, CISSP, CCNP SecurityMust be a U.S. Citizen (required for background screening)Must live locally and be able to reliably commute onsiteAbility to commit to up to 500 hours over 3 months, or until 500 hours have been exhausted.
