Crops Grower (Regenerative Farming)
Location : Monroe & Erie Counties, NY Employment Type : Full-Time | Salary Reports To : Principal Crops Specialist
About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Crops Grower to lead crop production operations from planting through harvest. This position plays a key role in ensuring the health, nutrition, and performance of our fields, overseeing every stage of the growing process while leading a dedicated team.
The ideal candidate will have strong agronomic knowledge, leadership experience, and a passion for producing high-quality, high-yield crops.
Key Responsibilities
Crop & Fertility Management
Develop and implement agronomic plans for crop fertility, soil health, and plant nutrition.
Monitor crop growth and adjust fertility strategies using soil and tissue analysis.
Coordinate timely, and precise application of fertilizers and crop inputs.
Identify and address nutrient deficiencies, pest pressures, and disease issues.
Stay current on agronomic innovations, technologies, and sustainable practices.
Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead, train, and supervise seasonal field staff.
Manage daily crop care activitiesplanting, cultivation, irrigation, and pest management.
Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
Harvest Coordination
Assist with harvest scheduling, labor coordination, equipment logistics, and quality control.
Maintain detailed harvest records; including yields and field performance data.
Work with logistics and post-harvest teams to ensure smooth product flow.
Record Keeping & Compliance
Maintain accurate documentation of all field operations, crop observations, and fertility applications.
Ensure compliance with agricultural, environmental, and safety regulations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
35 years of hands-on crop production experience with emphasis on fertility and agronomic management.
Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of soil science, crop nutrition, and precision agriculture.
Proven ability to lead farm teams and coordinate complex field operations.
Skilled in operating and maintaining agricultural equipment.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
CDL-A preferred, or willingness to obtain.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position involves physical, outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions. Applicants must be comfortable performing hands-on tasks and working extended hours during peak seasons.
Youll be exposed to farm machinery, dust, and agricultural inputs in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
