Business Analyst

Overview

Ivans Insurance Solutions, a division of Applied Systems, is currently searching for a Business Analyst to join the Ivans Insights Product Management team. Product Management is the intersection between business, technology, and user experience. The Ivans Insights Product Management team is responsible for strategic analysis, product vision, and tactical execution of product releases for the Ivans Insights line of products.

Under the general direction of the Product Manager, the Business Analyst ensures a product’s core features and functionality meet the needs of the customers. For Ivans Insights, this means empowering users with analytics and data-driven solutions to guide their short and long-term decisions and strategic initiatives.

The Business Analyst makes sure the most valuable things to the market and to the company are aligned and included in the minimum viable delivery of the product initiative. Additionally, the Business Analyst defines, analyzes, and documents requirements for the product initiatives. This process includes writing user stories, detailing acceptance criteria, and managing requirements with the Product Owner at the project level.

What You’ll Do

• Understands, supports, and delivers on the corporate roadmap, vision, and goals
• Collaborates with Product Manager and Product Owner to establish product release vision, breaking down release-level themes/initiatives into features and user stories
• Communicates release level business needs to teams and stakeholders; sets appropriate acceptance criteria to meet business needs for minimum viable to market
• Works with clients and stakeholders to gather business needs and elicit, translate, and simply turn them into requirements.
• Plans, monitors, and analyzes the requirements throughout the roadmap and release planning, ensuring development teams can be continually fed.
• Works with peer Business Analysts & Product Managers regarding cross-team dependencies. Consistently mindful of improving portfolio interests, not just product interests.
• Creates technical specifications, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria for engineering
• Develops test cases and data that ensure the requirements and acceptance criteria are met and verified to support a successful release
• Supports the Product Owner in managing the lifecycle of the release by ensuring proper development and testing to meet the needs of the business requirements in an agile environment
• Participates in discovery calls with partners to assist Product Management with developing and maintaining a mature, feature-rich backlog
• Creates and maintains workflow diagrams to assist the design team when building partner-facing UIs
• Communicates with internal stakeholders regarding the building, maintaining, and supporting of the products

What You’ll Need to Succeed

We’re looking for someone who:

• Can work remotely or from an Ivans office

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

• 3+ years’ experience in Business Analysis in a related industry
• Strong experience working with stakeholders to establish business requirements and then translate them into technical/functional requirements
• Ability to collaborate on programming and analytical problems
• Strong quantitative, research, and Data Analytic skills
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Ability to work as a member of cross-functional teams to help design solutions
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
• Ability to anticipate business needs and think with a business owner mindset
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or similar background gained through professional work experience

Additionally, you may have:

• InsurTech or FinTech experience
• Experience with Agency Management or Policy Administration Systems
• Experience with Jira and Confluence
• Experience with the Google Cloud Platform
• Ability to comfortably and confidently present to all levels within the enterprise
• Understanding of and interest in business processes and how systems support the work efforts of product users
• Knowledge of JSON data standards
