Responsibilities

  • As an H-E-B Store Department Lead, you\'ll lead a well-stocked, well-maintained department, while providing superior customer service.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities, such as scheduling work, and training / developing Partners.
  • Eligible Partners become Owners in the company; partner-owned resources — People — drive innovation, growth, and success.
  • Demonstrate HEART FOR PEOPLE, HEAD FOR BUSINESS, and PASSION FOR RESULTS through supervising, training, and leading the department to meet sales goals.
  • Support roles across Store Lead Operations / Training, including backup to Department Manager, helping prepare department work schedules, and ensuring adherence to policies and laws.
  • Assist with inventory control; load, unload, and move product; train Partners; direct work; address complaints; resolve issues; and follow production plans.
  • Assist in all technical areas as needed and perform Representative / Specialist duties frequently.

Customer Service / Sales

  • Provide and coach on superior customer service; take orders from customers by telephone or in person; answer questions regarding products; assist with selections.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques and product knowledge to meet customer needs and grow department sales.
  • Merchandise products effectively.

    • Food Safety

  • Slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for quality; comply with department / Store operating procedures; clean / sanitize sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.

    • Department-Specific Responsibilities / Pre-requisites

  • BAKERY : oversee production planning and execution of processes; assist in technical areas; cull bakery products; write on cakes with icing per customer requests.
  • Stores with more than one Bakery Lead : serve as dedicated Lead for assigned Partners, processes, and responsibilities in cake / tortilla production or scratch / baking / wrapping as applicable by Store.
  • BEAUTY : apply advanced knowledge of current beauty trends for hair care, skin care, and makeup.
  • DELI : oversee specific areas (Service Case, Production, Cheese Shop or Catering); assist with inventory control, Fresh Production Planner (FPP) planning; follow EOMs; train on new systems and processes; reinforce training with Partners as needed.
  • PREPARED FOODS : serve / package products at customer requests; educate customers on preparation / reheating; prepackage condiments; perform basic prep tasks.
  • PRODUCE : Lead duties for department and as backup to Produce Manager; in-store production lead roles.
  • TEXAS BACKYARD : knowledge of nursery field; plant and chemical recommendations; training; keep up with trends.

    • Background & Qualifications

  • Minimum age 18; Associate\'s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or 6+ months of related experience / training; combination of education / training acceptable.
  • Completion of Company Orientation, food safety and sanitation training, and eCommerce Online Ordering training.
  • Expert knowledge of department production stations, quality standards, setup, operation, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or Partners; apply common sense to follow instructions.
