Position Overview :

The Technical Designer will ensure the quality of our brand through fit consistency and construction of AMO Denim products across all categories and divisions. The position will be responsible for the

execution of product from development to commercialization, ensuring correct fit specifications are

communicated and establishing processes to support this.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Establish garment specs, including graded specs and measurement guides, from the initial
  • development to production
  • Partner with Design to align on design and fit intent and offer technical recommendations (i.e
  • fusibles, elastic)
  • Manage fitting schedule and fit model
  • Spec samples and send out fit comments to factories
  • Manage pattern workload / priorities
  • Send domestic patterns to plot and pass to PD for sample execution tracking
  • Build and send tech packs to import and domestic vendors
  • Review grading in both patterns and garments across all sizes, providing clear direction to
  • import factories
  • Full understanding of quality standards to drive and maintain premium quality of the brand
  • Provide technical expertise to enhance product quality, cost, and production efficiency
  • Maintain and organize the fit block library
  • Communicate with factories and vendors regarding pattern / sewing questions
  • Communicate key calendar dates to vendors

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience working with import and domestic factories
  • An advanced understanding and practical application of garment sewing, construction, pattern making, and grading
  • Ability to work across departments (design, production, etc)
  • Ability to create and use interactive tools (fit process, measurement guide, fit comment sheet, video conferencing etc.) to facilitate faster sample approvals.
  • Knowledge in garment testing and product safety requirements.
  • Ability to lead fittings.
  • Superior computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PPT) & technical related software.
  • Share best practices to improve efficiency of product development department.
  • Requirements

  • 8 + years Technical Design experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of garment balance, fit, construction and patterns.
  • Team player who works well both collaboratively and autonomously.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Required time management, and strong organization skills.
