Holy Family Classical School seeking a High School Theology Teacher for the ’24-’25 school year. This ministerial, teaching position will report to the Head of the School.

This position is a part-time position which may become a full-time position with the addition of junior high theology courses or in combination with other high school positions for a qualified teacher.

Please see our other listings for more details on other available positions. This teacher will have the opportunity to participate in the ongoing development of the high school’s classical theology curriculum.

The 2024-2025 school year will be the third year of Holy Family Classical School’s High School program, with students in grades 9-11.

One 9th grade theology course, focusing on Sacred Scripture, and one 11th grade theology course, focusing on the movement from the height of Christendom to the challenges of the modern era, will be offered in ’24-’25.

Future courses will include 10th grade theology, focusing on early church history and the rise of Christendom along with 12th grade theology, focusing on the period from the First Vatican Council to the present, including the challenges of evangelization in a new apostolic age.

Founded by St. Katharine Drexel under the patronage of the Holy Family more than a century ago, Holy Family Cathedral School partners with parents to deliver an exceptional education that is both Catholic and classical.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A practicing Catholic in good standing who is joyfully striving to live according to Christ’s words;
  • Fidelity to the Magisterium in thought, word, and deed;
  • Familiarity with classical educational methods and / or openness to learning about and implementing the same;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and teaching certification or willingness to obtain certification or alternative licensure;

Master’s degree or higher is highly desirable but not required.

Instructional Proficiency :

  • Capability of instruction across grade levels while collaborating with colleagues;
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to a wide variety of students and circumstances;
  • Effective planning skills and collaboration with administration and parents;
  • Competency in teaching, pedagogical methods, and student management;
  • Flexibility and adaptability in and out of the classroom;

Classroom / Activities Management :

  • Understand, appreciate, and implement positive discipline in the context of virtue-ethics;
  • Maintain positive self-image and positive regard for students in word and deed;
  • Create a disciplined, organized, safe, open, and joyous learning environment.

Interpersonal Relationships :

  • Work cooperatively and effectively with the administration and staff; interact with students in a joyful, respectful, friendly, and just manner;

  • Keep parents informed regarding student progress;
  • Establish and maintain regular communication with parents and guardians

Professional Responsibilities and Growth :

  • Maintain professionalism in appearance, grooming, words, manners, and actions;
  • Handle confidential situations, discipline, and / or sensitive information discreetly;
  • Seek professional growth opportunities in consultation with the school’s administration;
  • Interpret school programs and policies to the local community in a positive manner;
  • Maintain punctual and full attendance for all required professional days and events;
  • Maintain diocesan VIRTUS / CYP certification (ongoing annually);
  • Fulfill responsibilities as assigned in the spirit of the school’s Catholic, classical mission.
