About the Role
We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our middle and high school team. The ideal candidate will bring strong classroom management skills, the ability to design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and a passion for helping students achieve academic and personal success.
The Special Education Teacher will work with a small caseload, providing direct instruction, accommodations, and collaboration with general education staff to ensure students thrive in both academic and social-emotional growth.
Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs in grades 5–12
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Adapt lessons and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and school staff
Monitor and document student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
Maintain a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment
Qualifications
Valid State Teaching License in Special Education (required)
Minimum 2 years of classroom experience preferred (new grads considered)
Experience with middle and high school students strongly preferred
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Passion for working with students with diverse needs
Location : New York, NY
Schedule : Full-time, Monday–Friday (32.5–35 hours per week)
Caseload : Fewer than 20 students
