The Opportunity

At USAFacts, we are committed to providing unbiased and transparent data about the United States. We are seeking a Senior Data Quality Analyst who is experienced in conducting analysis of and communicating findings from government data, with a focus on accuracy and quality, to join our mission-driven research team.

In this role, you will ensure the organization maintains its high bar for quality and its trustworthy brand by ensuring proper research methodologies are followed and that data is accurate across USAFacts analysis and content.

Responsibilities also include conducting research,delivering data-driven insights for the organization’s major reports, and ensuring that their work is aligned with audience needs and expectations.

You will play a key role in maintaining the trustworthiness and transparency of the organization's work.

This role is a collaborative, individual contributor role, and does not include direct people management.

Key Priorities & Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough reviews of USAFacts’ articles, presentations, reports, and other materials to ensure factual accuracy, adherence to source data use guidelines, and compliance with the USAFacts’ data analysis standards.
  • Develop and lead training sessions for staff on best practices related to government data analysis, visualization, and presentation.
  • Serve as a key resource for staff and stakeholders with questions about government data and how to conduct analysis.
  • Regularly assess and refine USAFacts' data standards and practices to ensure data accuracy and analysis transparency.
  • Identify the root cause of data quality or analysis issues by investigating source data, working across teams, and collaborating with data owners.
  • Apply new techniques and technologies, such as AI, to increase work efficiency and accuracy.
  • As needed, produce trustworthy, unbiased, and contextual data-driven insights by independently conducting analysis of government data, surfacing interesting findings, employing data best practices, and similar responsibilities.

Required Experience, Skills, Education :

  • Degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, data science, or public policy.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with at least three (3) of those years working with government data.
  • Thorough understanding of descriptive statistics, basic econometric concepts and techniques, and ability to execute related analyses.
  • Proficient using data analysis tools such as Excel, Python, or R.
  • Ability to review and understand data documentation and translate into quality and accurate analysis.
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with others collaboratively and effectively.
  • Excellent writing and research skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an unstructured environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience communicating complicated data analysis and findings to non-technical audiences.

Compensation

The starting cash compensation range for the Senior Quality Data Analyst role in Bellevue, WA includes a base salary range of $113,000 to $141,300, plus a 10% performance bonus target opportunity.

The maximum of the base salary range for the role is $169,600 per year. Individual pay increases are assessed annually based on multiple factors such as demonstrated skill in the role and context, progress and performance against goals, and increased experience.

Location & Hybrid Work

The position is based in Bellevue, Washington.

Our organization practices intentional hybrid work . All USAFacts employees are expected to work on-site Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during overlapping core hours of 10 : 00 am to 3 : 00 pm.

Mondays and Fridays remain flexible work-from-home or office workdays.
