Job descriptionPerform cleaning duties, minor repairs, and limited ground maintenance, as requested. Report need for major repairs to Facilities Management. Report need for supply orders to Facilities Management. Assist in and maintain building safety. Report all safety hazards to the Facilities Management Assist in daily meeting room set-ups and preparation. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of Library facilities by : leaning all entrance ways and perimeter sidewalks, sweeping all garbage in parking lot and islands, emptying all outside garbage bags and replenishing with new bags, on a daily basis. Assist with all outside cleaning projects. Assist with the deliveries on and shipments off the dock. Provide back-up assistance to security personnel, as needed. Attend meetings and training as required or requested. Abide by the policies and procedures of the Library. Treat all patrons and employees fairly and with an open mind; maintain patron and employee confidentiality. Communicate clearly either in person, on the telephone, and in writing. Cope with the stress of the job and get along with coworkers. Maintain the ability and patience to understand and make yourself understood by all patrons. Other duties as assigned. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and at least two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications is required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
Maintenance Technician
Are you a Maintenance Technician looking to join an award-winning Library that can provide great stability and amazing work culture? The Schaumburg Township District Library has a 40 hour / week full-time, non-exempt Maintenance Technician position open. Hours are as follows and requires flexibility :
Monday - 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m.
Tuesday - 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m.
Wednesday - 1 : 00 p.m. to 9 : 00 p.m.
Thursday - 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m.
Friday - 11 : 00 a.m. to 7 : 00 p.m.
The schedule is based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed. Starting pay is $20.51-24.62 an hour based on skills and qualifications.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES
- Ability to be a team-player and work pleasantly and effectively with all patrons, staff, supervisors, and others.
- Ability to learn various job functions, perform them correctly, and understand the necessity in overall library operations.
- Ability to independently function efficiently in a changing and varied environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on details.
- Ability to follow all library policies and procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to incorporating principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion into everyday work.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping our facilities operating optimally and repairing any problems when discovered by performing cleaning duties, minor repairs, and limited ground maintenance in and around the Library facilities at all locations as needed.
