Job Description :
As the Leave of Absence and Accommodation Program Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting Brown University's leave and accommodation and paid time off processes. This involves administering, supporting, and continuously refining these programs to align with federal and state leave and disability laws, including the FMLA, ADAAA, Pregnant Workers’ Fairness Act (PWFA), and other relevant legislation related to occupational and non-occupational injury and disability. The ideal candidate will possess expert-level knowledge of these laws and demonstrate a commitment to fostering an equitable and compliant workplace environment.
This role manages all aspects of leave of absence for staff, accommodations for staff and faculty, and also the long-term disability benefits, including the development and implementation of processes and procedures to achieve optimal employee experience.
This position uses comprehensive knowledge of federal and state regulations, the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended (ADAAA), University policies and practices, and significant HR system knowledge to ensure the University complies with regulations
Must have experience as a subject matter expert in absence management and ADA accommodations. Must have exemplary people skills to support Brown employees with complex and sensitive discussions. Must possess strong program and project skills and the knowledge to navigate the complexities of Leaves, time off, and workplace accommodations.

Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree and / or Master’s Degree or an equivalent combinations of education and experience. Certification in CRC, CDMS, CLMS, CEB or related professional certification preferred.
Able to work at a strategic level to support Brown & HR departments and initiatives. Must have strategic focus and ability to set long-term vision while providing the tactical support
Able to prioritize and delegate tasks and responsibilities in partnership with the operations team, while balancing multiple process optimization initiatives
In depth knowledge of federal leave and accommodation laws (i.e. : Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act and Amendments Act (ADAAA) and Pregnant Workers’ Fairness Act (PWFA), state leave laws and programs, and overall integrated disability absence management
Additional HR experience is preferred
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HR platform and case management systems (Workday / Salesforce)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to use data to describe and articulate business needs
Ability to partner and work across Brown on various initiatives and projects
Demonstrate understanding of macro level environment to assess and mitigate risk
Excellent presentation development and delivery skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
Ability to take initiative and solve business problems through partnership and planning
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with other teams, internal and external, and customer service skills, empathy, and emotional intelligence to support Brown in highly sensitive conversations
