Responsibilities
- Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The role develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming.
- Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, provide a clean, organized environment, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business.
- Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service : promptly greet guests; respond to questions / concerns quickly and courteously; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; thank guests; circulate the store to prioritize guests over tasks.Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.Process guest purchases / returns using the POS system; handle cash accurately and provide receipts while maintaining top-notch guest service.Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.Promote GameStop's guest benefits, including the new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training in company / store policies and guidelines.Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations.Provide recognition and feedback to store associates and document feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening or closing shifts; associates should know all aspects of their jobs and policies, including inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics.Schedule store associates, manage breaks and meals, and maintain staffing levels to ensure guest service quality.Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time worked.Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure equipment is in proper working order.Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ensure daily shipping.Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct safety checks and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete administrative duties.Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure items are represented and organized on the sales floor.Reconcile daily transactions and bank deposits; ensure adequate cash and change for transactions outside opening / closing duties.Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct merchandise counts and report discrepancies to management.Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls accurately; label boxes with packing lists.Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines.Assist in maintaining store records and ensure manuals are up to date.Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.Adhere to opening and closing procedures.Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Job Skills and Abilities
