Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Shift Manager for a Telemetry unit night shift position requiring active ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certs, and prior charge RN experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a 31-bed acute care Telemetry unit with both private and semi-private roomsPatient ratio is 1 : 4, with a diverse patient population including post pacer, hemodialysis, neurological, cardiac, urology, stepdown, oncology with cardiac monitoring, sepsis, and correctional patientsNight shift position with 12-hour shifts, 7 : 00 pm to 7 : 30 amWeekend requirement is 4 shifts every 4 weeks, with specific weekend shift patterns for nights and daysBlock scheduling may be allowed depending on unit needs, but is not guaranteedFirst to float; may float between MedSurg, remote tele, ICU (for tele MS holds), and ER holdsEMR used is Cerner, with telemetry monitoring on Phillips equipmentOn-call requirements include reporting within 30 minutes if placed on standby or callRequired to work within perm staff holiday rotation, including 1 major and 1 minor holiday1–2 orientation shifts with a preceptor providedNavy blue scrubs required, with navy, white, or black undershirts or jacketsWill function as RN shift manager, taking patient assignments and managing staff resource nurse for task support and staff breaksTeam structure includes a shift manager, resource nurse, and nurse aides (2 on days, 1 on nights)No IV team; responsible for primary IV managementRT and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7Must pass modules and hands-on competency assessments as assigned for this facilityRequires working with high acuity and complex cases including stepdown patients and those with bedsores or special equipmentCandidates must not have been employed in any capacity by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year to be eligibleRequirements
Active RN license (State or Compact) required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of RN experience, with recent experience as an RN shift manager or charge RNCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedAbility to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms is requiredMust provide two professional references : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years, including employment datesCopy of driver’s license required for considerationBenefits
