Field Service Technician III

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for installation, repair and inspections of conveyors, hoists & cranes and other material handling equipment as required.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Track a conveyor belt independently and efficiently.
• Independently troubleshoot issues, identify needed parts, identify and perform corrective action on material handling equipment.
• Carry out overall conveyor maintenance on schedule and as required.
• Independently repair and inspect overhead bridge cranes.
• Use a multi-meter to check fuses, troubleshoot contactors, verify power, troubleshoot 3-phase motors.
• Respond to break down calls 24 / 7.
• Be able to work 40-60 hours per week or more if needed.
• Act professionally with dignity and respect.
• Communicate clearly and precisely with customers and any other personnel.
• Work independently and conscientiously to complete a job.
• Work within the safety guidelines of customers, Adaptec Solutions and OSHA; always operating by the most stringent of safety protocol.
• Perform installations, preventative maintenance, and field service repair on material handling equipment independently.
• Appropriately document all work performed (i.e., Field Service Reports / inspection and audit forms).
• Perform mechanical work including fabricating, welding, and painting.
• Other duties assigned.

SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB

MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS

High mental and visual attention is required for planning difficult work methods and sequences to obtain size, shape or physical qualities of product. Extremely close visual attention is required (such as making delicate adjustments to control high-speed operations). Very precise muscular control and / or extremely close visual attention required for making delicate adjustments to control mechanical operations.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS :

Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, and hear. Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :

Most work is performed in a typical manufacturing / production environment. However, employee could be subject to adverse environmental conditions such as : noise, vibration, hazards (moving mechanical parts), fumes, odors, dust, oils and weather elements.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED :

This position requires the regular use of a DOT compliant company vehicle, towing of a trailer, conveyor specialty tools, ability to use computer / tablet, installation equipment, phone and copier. Daily use of hand tools, measurement instruments (such as indicators, calipers, micrometers, tape measure, scales, etc.). Daily use of power tools to include drills, grinders, welders, impact wrenches and more. Use / operation of heavy equipment such as forklifts, aerial and scissor lifts.

MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the wage range for this role is $32.00-42.00 an hour. The hourly rate range provided is a general guideline.
