Pinnaql is currently seeking a Plant Engineer who will support the start-up, commissioning, and operations of a new state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This hybrid role can be based anywhere in the U.S. but will require 25-50% travel for on-site work in Lebanon IN.
Position Overview :
The position serves as a critical link between engineering, automation, operations, and quality ensuring equipment, utilities, and control systems are designed, implemented, and maintained in a compliant and optimized state. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with automation systems, MES integration, and PI data historians, along with a hands-on understanding of plant operations in a regulated (cGMP) environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide engineering support through all phases of the facility lifecycle-design, commissioning, qualification, and steady-state operation.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (automation, operations, quality, maintenance, and validation) to ensure alignment across systems and processes.
- Serve as a technical resource for MES, DeltaV, and PI system integration, ensuring data accuracy and process connectivity throughout the manufacturing ecosystem.
- Support process automation initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve control strategies, workflow efficiency, and data visibility.
- Lead or contribute to troubleshooting activities, root cause analyses, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure all equipment and systems remain in a qualified and compliant state through proactive maintenance, documentation updates, and adherence to change control.
- Partner with operations to develop and optimize procedures for equipment use, cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability programs focused on performance optimization, energy efficiency, and system standardization.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related discipline).Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing environments.Demonstrated experience supporting or integrating automation (DeltaV, PLCs), MES, and data historian (PI) systems.Familiarity with modern MES platforms (e.g., PAS-X, Syncade, POMSnet, L7, Apprentice or comparable systems) is a plus.Proven ability to collaborate across engineering and operations teams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.Strong understanding of cGMP, change control, equipment qualification (IQ / OQ / PQ), and validation principles.Experience supporting greenfield or large-scale start-up projects strongly preferred.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.At Pinnaql, people always come first.
