Job description

Posting Summary

The Rutgers School of Public Health Environmental and Occupational Health and Justice department invites applications for (2) two senior level (Associate/Full) Professors in Sustainability, on the Tenure/Tenure Track. A tenure-track Assistant Professor may also be considered.

Qualified candidates should have a PhD in a field related to sustainability with a focus on health in its broadest construct, environmental justice that relates to sustainable development, or climate and health including resiliency, mitigation, and/or adaptability. Faculty at the Rutgers School of Public Health will have the opportunity to engage in exciting teaching and mentorship activities through our certificate, masters and PhD programs.

Responsibilities:

· A record of esteemed scholarship (including quality peer-reviewed publications, extramural research funding as Principal Investigator, and keynote conference lectures)· Experience and interest in teaching and learning, with a focus on student success and a commitment to equity in action.· Experience of teaching master’s students.· Experience of supervising doctoral students and early career faculty.· Interest in community engagement. Sustainability across environmental, social, economic, and/or governance as it relates to health is required.

Our faculty are engaged in cutting-edge research, innovative teaching, and impactful community service in several disciplines within these areas, including but not limited to: aging, causal inference methods, climate change, clinical trial designs, sustainability, global and migrant health, infectious and chronic disease epidemiology, perinatal health, pharmacoepidemiology, public health nutrition, population mental health, social and commercial determinants of health, statistical learning methods, and substance use.

We are particularly interested in candidates whose works align with any of these disciplines or, more broadly, with any of our six Areas of Excellence.

Successful applicants will be expected to develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program, contribute to our teaching mission, mentor MPH and doctoral students, and actively engage with the communities we serve.

Appointments will be made in an appropriate department within the School of Public Health, which has locations in Newark and New Brunswick. We offer multiple master’s and doctoral degrees, dual-degree, certificate, and articulated BA/BS-MPH degree programs.
