The Physical Therapist / Vestibular Therapist is responsible for evaluating / assessing needs of referred post-concussion syndrome patients and formulating treatment plans.

In addition to orthopedic therapy treatment disciplines, the Vestibular Therapist will have a strong clinical interest in and experience with sport concussion management.

This position provides therapy services defined in treatment plans and works cooperatively with physicians, case managers, and adjustors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the extent of the patient's disabilities to determine appropriate treatment programs.
  • Administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment on patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
  • Reviews physician's referral (prescription) and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required.
  • Records treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enters information into computer.
  • Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • One year previous orthopaedic and manual therapy experience, preferred.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist within the state of Colorado. Must be in good standing.
  • Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, required.
  • Core competencies in job knowledge, communication, customer service, planning / organizing, quantity, and confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willing to travel to multiple locations.

Physical Requirements

  • The work environment is the typical medical office environment. The employee must be able to complete their work satisfactorily in an environment where there are significant distractions, including staff, patients, and vendors walking through and conversing, telephones ringing, conversations carrying over, loud noises, and interruptions to answer questions from others.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds and should do so in a sound and safe manner. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee will regularly assist patients in turning and arising from exam table; will regularly push wheelchair patients;

and regularly assists patients in arising from and returning to wheelchair or bed.
