MISSION OF THE POSITION
The Outside Sales representative will manage an assigned list of accounts by establishing relationships that will generate profitable sales revenue. This position will sell products and services offered by the company to current and new customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Customer Relations
1. Collaborate with the manager to understand customer requirements, to promote the sale of company products, and to provide sales support.
2. Build and sustain long-lasting relationships with new and existing customers based within an assigned sales territory.
3. Maintain ongoing communication with existing and previous customers via phone email or face to face; alerting them of new products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest.
4. Communicate with customers and leads to identify and understand their product or service needs; identify and suggests products and services to meet those needs.
5. Collaborate with the estimating team to provide bids for projects.
6. Strategically negotiating with potential and existing customers to close sales.
7. Prepare and submit sales contracts for orders.
8. Demonstrate the functions and utility of products or services to customers based on their needs.
9. Entertain customers through various means based on customer's interests.
10. Ensure customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolving any issues that may arise post-sale.
11. Visit customers frequently to evaluate needs or to promote product or service sales.
Administrative
12. Maintain an organized open project and back log system on customer projects.
13. Develop and implement an effective sales strategy to drive sales.
14. Communicate and work with branch personnel regarding upcoming needs for customers as it relates to inventory requirements and project scheduling.
15. Maintain detailed reports of sales activities including calls, leads, orders, sales, customer accounts, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.
16. Research competitors' products and pricing as well as market conditions.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Keep abreast of the latest industry developments by attending meetings, training workshops, and industry events.
2. Provide take offs from sets of engineered plans.
3. Perform all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
4. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
