Tax Director or Managing Director – Commercial Tax
Weaver is a full-service national accounting firm looking for an experienced tax leader to join our commercial tax practice. The role is based in the U.S. with a focus on federal tax compliance, planning, and consulting for large, middle‑market and public companies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow federal tax compliance and consulting engagements, including consolidated corporations, multi‑state businesses, private equity and partnership clients.
- Engage in business development – prepare proposals, participate in client meetings, and expand existing services.
- Build and mentor a high‑performance tax team, providing coaching, practice development, and succession planning.
- Maintain deep technical knowledge across industries such as manufacturing, technology, healthcare, professional services, and construction.
- Collaborate with practice leaders on strategy and deliver high-quality client service.
Qualifications
CPA with a minimum of 9 years of public‑accounting experience in federal tax compliance, planning, and consulting.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.Proficiency in selling and executing complex engagements for large, multi‑state and private‑equity clients.Experience building and managing a tax team, with strong coaching and professional development skills.Excellent written and verbal communication, client‑service orientation, and relationship‑management ability.Preferred : Master’s degree in Accounting or related field.Track record of building practice revenue and managing staff performance.Strong relationship‑management and practice‑development experience.Client‑service passion and a collaborative culture fit.Compensation & Benefits
Salary range : $200,000–$300,000 (California and Massachusetts metropolitan markets).
