Job Description
The Recreation Therapist role involves planning and executing adaptive recreation activities aligned with Soldiers' comprehensive training goals across physical, emotional, social, and other domains.
Responsibilities include conducting pre-event site visits, coordinating personnel and equipment, developing individualized programs based on assessments, and managing data and progress reports.
Therapists provide therapeutic recreation such as adaptive sports, arts, and outdoor activities, and serve as points of contact for community reintegration and program coordination with various organizations.
They ensure safety protocols, maintain equipment, and assist with event logistics and participant recruitment for military and adaptive sports events.
Necessary skills include knowledge of adaptive sports, documentation, equipment modification, and database management.
Qualifications require a certified Recreational Therapist (NCTRC), a bachelor’s degree, and 3+ years of relevant experience, with preference for experience working with individuals with disabilities, PTSD, or TBI.
Position is full-time, contract-based, based at Fort Riley, KS, with salary starting at $55,000 / year. Applicants must have or obtain a CACard and be willing to relocate.
