This is a professional position supervised by the Heart Disease and Stroke Section Administrator in the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention. This individual will be responsible for all programmatic, fiscal oversight, and the management of the Florida Stroke Registry and Florida Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Program. Duties and responsibilities include :
Provides overall direction for the development and implementation of collaborations and resources within the Florida Department of Health and with partnering organizations to support comprehensive stroke systems of care for both individuals at highest risk for stroke events and for stroke patients in Florida.
Responsible for completing required reports, grant deliverables, and related documents for the Florida Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Program, a state program jointly supported by the state of Florida and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Responsible for programmatic oversight of the Florida Stroke Registry (FSR), an integrated data system capturing legislatively mandated performance metrics from all stroke centers in Florida to improve health outcomes for Florida stroke patients and increase the quality of health care delivery.
Develops materials, in collaboration with Florida Department of Health partners, to inform Floridians, health care professionals and health systems to promote health and wellness to reduce the morbidity and mortality due to stroke and other adverse cardiovascular health outcomes.
Serves as a subject matter expert and liaison to the Florida Department of Health, agencies, workgroups, and organizations that promote vascular health.
Plan, implement, monitor, evaluate and report on activities that reduce the burden of chronic diseases and conditions, including stroke, statewide.
Provides technical assistance, guidance and support to both Department of Health staff and county health department staff on chronic disease prevention strategies for persons at risk for stroke and stroke patients at risk for recurrence.
Host and participate on statewide, regional and / or local conference calls and participate in workgroups related to chronic disease prevention, education and self-management in support of reducing the burden of stroke in Florida.
Participate in Bureau meetings, contribute to planning and guiding Bureau initiatives, explore outside funding opportunities as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned, including providing technical assistance as needed in response to inquiries for information about stroke related resources and assistance, and assisting Bureau staff and management with special projects and ad / hoc assignments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; skills to work collaboratively across organizational units and with diverse groups of people; organize information in logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, or training materials; evaluate and process information and make informed decisions.
Ability to work both independently and cooperatively in groups; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; manage multiple tasks efficiently; analyze and solve problems.
Qualifications : Education : This position requires a minimum of 6 years' experience in public health program development, management, grant and budget management, and evaluation. A Bachelor's degree can substitute for 4 years direct experience.
Preferred : A minimum of 8 years' experience in public health program development, management, grant and budget management, and evaluation. A Master's degree can substitute for 6 years direct experience.
