General Maintenance Worker

The General Maintenance Worker will perform a variety of routine and semi-skilled maintenance and construction work on college buildings and grounds. Job responsibilities and essential functions of the position include :

• Be responsible for the inspection of buildings and grounds for needed repair, preventive maintenance, adjustment and / or replacement of parts as required to maintain the buildings and grounds, and to generate work orders for major repairs as needed.
• Pick up trash around buildings, dorms and campus grounds, and empty trash cans as required.
• Assist the Maintenance Trades Workers as assigned.
• Receive, perform, and complete work orders pertaining to a variety of routine, semi-skilled building maintenance and repair tasks to include : install, replace, repair flooring; toilet hardware, faucets, wallboard, walls, appliances, tools, interior and exterior painting; rough carpentry; window replacement; bulb replacement; preventive maintenance on heating fixtures; routine plumbing and electrical repairs and other tasks as deemed necessary.
• Maintain / operate tools, equipment, and vehicles utilized to complete the assigned tasks for maintenance work.
• Follow OSHA standards in the workplace.
