Assistant Director for Facilities
University of Washington's Recreation department has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director for Facilities to join their team. University of Washington Recreation's mission is to provide safe, accessible, and dynamic recreation experiences to engage students in growth and wellbeing. The Assistant Director for Facilities is responsible for Recreation's building and grounds maintenance program, including the Intramural Activities (IMA) Building, Waterfront Activities Center, Golf Range, Pavilion Swimming Pool, six outdoor fields (approximately 20 acres), thirteen tennis courts, one outdoor basketball court, and two outdoor sand volleyball courts. All facilities operate seven days per week. They supervise thirteen full-time classified staff members, a custodial supervisor, and are responsible for establishing the policies, procedures, and methods necessary to ensure the success of the program, with safety and risk mitigation as a top priority. Establishing work timelines, monitoring the completion of maintenance work requests, and inspecting custodian work to ensure that the duties are fulfilled in accordance with department priorities are key components of the position. This position reports to the Associate Director, serves on the department's Extended Executive Team, and interacts with department staff on all initiatives related to the operational needs for Recreation. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree. Equivalent experience can substitute for degree requirement. 3-4 years of applicable work experience in Recreation facilities' building and grounds maintenance. Equivalent education / experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license / certification / registration.
Additional Requirements
Must demonstrate knowledge of swimming pool maintenance (CPO required), grounds keeping, sport court repair, custodian practices and cardio / strength equipment maintenance. Must maintain current First Aid / CPR / AED certification. Possess interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and colleagues. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership / management skills.
