Controller
Our client, a prominent and well-known NFP in Washington, DC is looking to hire a Controller to their organization. The Controller will assist with the daily operations of their Accounting Department reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
This Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic guidance to senior management.
A successful candidate is able to work in a fast paced environment, manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively.

Controller Qualifications :
- BS degree in Accounting / Finance
- CPA or working towards CPA certification preferred
- 8-10+years accounting experience
- NFP accounting experience
- 5+years supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.
- Experience with Business Central accounting software a plus
- Great communication skills and attention to detail
- Strong Excel skills
Controller Responsibilities include :
- Oversee all aspects of the organization's financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Manage daily operations within the accounting department
- Responsible for the accuracy of the general ledgers
- Manage annual audits : International, Charitable Foundation and PACs
- Manage annual 990 filings : International, Charitable Foundation and PACs
- Department liaison for all PAC disbursements and reconciliations
- Suggest areas for process improvement
- Assist with record retention and organization of historical records
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Will manage two direct reports responsible for bank reconciliations, investment reconciliations and fixed asset recognition
- Works closely with the Chief Financial Officer on all accounting department matters
