Description
The IT Systems Engineer - Cloud Data & Analytics will design, build, and optimize secure cloud-native data pipelines and warehouse environments primarily in AWS. The engineer will work closely with our clients, development teams, infrastructure teams, data & analytics team, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and operation of cloud services. The Engineer will also ensure data availability, governance, and scalability while applying best practices in security and automation.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Design and manage data lakes and warehouses on AWS and other platforms as needed.
- Build secure, automated ETL / ELT pipelines leveraging Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, and API integrations.
- Ensure encryption, secure access (IAM policies, RBAC), and compliance for data assets.
- Monitor system performance, optimize queries, and introduce partitioning, caching, or indexing strategies.
- Develop metadata management and data catalog solutions for consistent business definitions.
- Collaborate with BI analysts to develop data sources optimized for Tableau, Power BI, or Quicksight.
- Troubleshoot failures and implement proactive monitoring on data pipelines.
Required Skills & Certifications
Strong experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions on the AWS platform (Azure and GCP is a plus)Strong proficiency in SQL & schema design, plus Python for ETL automation preferred.Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message queues (SNS, SQS, Kafka).Knowledge of IAM roles for services, encryption standards (AES-256, TLS 1.2+), and tokenized data exchange.Preferred certifications : AWS Data Analytics Specialty or AWS Database Specialty.Education / Experience
Experience with Physical Security infrastructure, hardware and software is a strong plusCertifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, PMP, or CSM are a plusExperience in high-growth or service-based organizations strongly preferredExperience in a for-profit, fast-paced technology environment is idealBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or Information Systems or equivalent work experience.3-5 years of cloud data engineering or analytics experience in AWS environments.
