Position Overview
The Vice President of Operations (VP of Operations) is a key executive leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational performance of a multi-location veterinary management company. This role ensures that hospitals deliver exceptional medical care, outstanding client service, and efficient business operations. The VP of Operations partners with the COO, CEO, Success Center,  medical leadership, and practice managers to execute strategic initiatives, drive financial performance, and foster a culture of growth, collaboration, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations of veterinary hospitals within AVP’s portfolio.
- Ensure consistency of operational standards, processes, and policies across all locations.
- Partner with Medical Directors and Practice Managers to align medical quality and client experience goals.
- Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, workflow, and employee engagement.
Strategic Planning & Execution
Collaborate with the executive team to define and implement business strategies for growth and profitability.Develop and monitor performance metrics for hospital operations, including patient care, client satisfaction, staff productivity, and financial targets.Identify opportunities for expansion, acquisition, or new service offerings.Financial Management
Oversee financial performance of hospitals, ensuring revenue growth, margin optimization, and cost control.Full ownership of the profit and loss statements for each hospital, identifying trends, and implementing changes to enhance financial performance.Review financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to ensure alignment with organizational goals.Lead monthly AVP scorecard discussions to review performance, and ensure your team addresses financial and operational issues promptly. Your focus on driving year-over-year revenue and EBITDA growth is crucial, as is your ability to identify and act on cost reduction and revenue enhancement opportunities.Team Development & Leadership
Mentor, coach, and develop Practice Managers, Regional Managers, and Regional Director of Operations.Create succession planning programs to build future leadership within the organization.Foster a culture that supports employee engagement, client-centered service, and continuous learning.Establishes clear standard operating procedures (SOPs) and utilizes tools like Notion and Loom for effective team training and communication.Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure all hospitals comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including veterinary medical standards and labor laws.Maintain high standards of patient care and client service by partnering with medical leadership.Lead initiatives for accreditation, safety, and risk management.Competencies

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.10+ years of progressive leadership experience in multi-site operations, preferably in veterinary, healthcare, or service-related industries.Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L responsibility.Proven ability to lead and inspire teams across multiple locations.Exceptional communication, organizational, and change management skills.Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.Ability to travel : up to 50%Benefits
