Drinking Water Manager
The Ohio Environmental Councilseeksa Drinking WaterManager whowilljoin our Water team. This role willwork across the OEC to develop, execute, and coordinate smart strategies to advancethewater-relatedpolicies outlined in the OECs strategic plan.Therolewill alsosupport the water policy advocacy efforts conducted by the OECs affiliated 501(c)(4) organization, the Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund.
The Drinking Water Manager willensurethe maintenance of strong partnerships and networks with diverse stakeholders, decision-makers, and media to strategically execute and coordinate a range of effective tactics to advance OECs drinking water policies.Along with the Agriculture and WaterManager,The Drinking Water Manager will report to the Managing Director of Water Policy.
JobResponsibilities
AstheDrinking Water Manager,your responsibilitieswill include:
- Researchingandanalyzingbest practicesfor protecting drinking water sources, securing clean water access, and water affordability.
- Developingandmaintainingrelationships with government officials, community stakeholders, and businessestosecurepolicy changes and promotescience-drivensolutions.
- Supportingthe drafting and development of policies that align with strategicobjectives.
- Developing subject matterexpertisethat can be used to providefactual informationand analysis to a variety ofstakeholders, including legislators and funders.
- Managingthe implementation of related programs, includingmonitoring programmatic outcomesandresponsiblegrant management(including meetinggrant deliverables).
- Actively pursuingopportunities to engage,andwhen necessary,educatethe public about drinking water issues andpolicysolutions.
- Coordinatetheneeded research,planning,andanalysis for theexecution of campaigns.
- Effectively collaboratingwithorganizations,partners, andstakeholders tomeet andsupportorganizational goals.
- Successfully fulfillingorganizational responsibilities, whichincludeattending meetings asrequested; support grant writing as needed,participatingin other fundraising efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Key qualifications
- You haveat least3 + yearsofrelevantexperience in advocacy, community organizing, or program management.
- You have working knowledgeof drinking water issues,solutions,policies,and regulations.
- You have effective communicationandinterpersonal skillsthat can beleveragedtorepresentthe OEC in a variety of settings.
- You have effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple projects independently.
- You are comfortable with facilitating meetings and problem solving with a variety of stakeholders.
- Youhave the ability toworkcollaborativelyorindependentlyandfill in the blanks when needed.
- You approach your work witha flexible,positive attitude, andthe spiritof yes.
- You have the ability toadapt quickly to change.

Preferred qualifications
- You have some experience working with nonprofit and government organizations or advocacy groups.
- Youhavedemonstratedacommitment to continued professional growth and development.
- You have experience managingmultiple projects at once while delivering quality results.
- You have experience with fundraising and/or grant writing.
- You have theabilityto plan, track, and manage a budget successfully.
- You can travelwithin the state, and available foroccasional overnight or out-of-state travel for meetings and conferences.
Compensation and benefits

Additional Details
The OECs headquarters is in Columbus, with a satellite office in Cleveland. The location of theDrinking Water Manageris flexible within the State of Ohio, with a preference for one of these cities. Some travel will also berequired, including occasional overnight or out-of-state travel for conferencesandmeetings with partners, donors,etc.
