Position Summary
This position leads crude oil supply trading operations across MPC's Texas and Denver regions, driving commercial strategy, contract negotiations, and logistics coordination to optimize profitability and ensure refinery supply continuity across key basins including Permian, Uinta, Rockies, Bakken, and Utica. Coordinates with Optimization, Scheduling, MPLX, Fuels Value Chain, and Value Chain Optimization to maximize profitability across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages crude oil supply organization for MPC's Texas and Denver regions, which encompasses Permian, Uinta, Rockies, Bakken, and Utica business.
- Negotiates contracts for purchase / sale of crude supply within limits of authority. Identifies and pursues commercial trading opportunities. Accountable for meeting profitability and optimization targets.
- Provides market assessment for development of region's tactical trading strategy in accordance with risk management policies. Gathers and reports competitive intelligence on underlying supply and demand forces impacting assigned region. Establishes and sustains relationships with key suppliers / counterparties.
- Coordinates logistical arrangements with supply logistics groups to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of crude shipments.
- Collaborates with system optimization and refinery optimization staff to identify and act upon supply chain opportunities. Ensures refineries' requirements are met on a timely basis. Communicates supply and trading issues impacting profit optimization at refineries. Evaluates economics of available products / crudes.
- Coordinates and drives incremental value across the integrated MPC & MPLX value chain leveraging MPC's position & business relationships.
Education and Experience
Twelve (12) years of industry or related experience required.Proven trading experience with a strong track record of delivering results in dynamic market environments.Minimum of five (5) years of commodity trading experience within crude oil markets preferred.Four (4) years of demonstrated supervisory experience, including leading and developing direct reports to achieve team and organizational goals.Skills
