Baxter Healthcare has an immediate opening for an Associate Director of Global Government Affairs to join our growing Kidney Care team.
This position will work closely with the Head of Government Affairs, Kidney Care to effectively support our company with various federal agencies, embassies, and other external stakeholders.
The Associate Director plays an integral role in creating and executing global advocacy strategies and will work in conjunction with internal Corporate Affair functions including Communications, Reimbursement and Stakeholder Advocacy.
Your role
- This position will hold a central role in shaping and implementing strategies to direct regulatory and market access activities with governments around the world
- Successful candidates will be responsible for representing our organization's interests on matters related to public policy, international relations, and business operations
- The impact of this role will be measured by the ability to link into and support advocacy efforts around the global
Your team
- The Associate Director for Global Government Affairs will be an integral part of the U.S. government affairs team and will report directly in the Head of Government Affairs
- The U.S. Government Affairs team is focused on changing public policy in the U.S. and around the world to increase patient access to life saving and live sustain treatment and to incentivize healthcare innovation
- The U.S. Government Affairs team is based in Washington, DC
What you'll be doing
- The Associate Director for Global Government Affairs will focus on international markets while engaging with governments and other collaborators on key issues that impact business interests and brand reputation
- Identify and engage with key partners, policymakers, and regulatory bodies at international level
- Track legislative and regulatory developments that may impact the company's operations and proactively engage with relevant authorities to advocate for favorable policies
- Monitor major international events for the purpose maximizing external engagements for the government affairs team and the organization’s executive leadership
- Collaborate with business partners (Marketing, Regulatory, Medical, Communications) on product launches, supply chain logistics and assessing regulatory burden
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key government officials and advocate on topics such as intellectual property, taxation, pricing, reimbursement, market access, and trade
- Leverage external relationships to gain insights into emerging trends, legislative priorities, and geopolitical risks that may impact the organization's business operations
- Collaborate with internal functions, including legal, compliance, policy, and regulatory teams, to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations across global markets
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience (5+ years) and leadership in government affairs, public policy, or related fields, with a focus on international business and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with global political and regulatory environments, particularly in key markets relevant to the organization's business operations
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking capabilities, with the ability to anticipate and respond effectively to emerging challenges and opportunities
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences
- Ability to work collaboratively across functional teams and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization
