About the Team

The Security Engineering team at Decagon protects the platform that powers the most advanced conversational AI agents for enterprise customers across voice, chat, email and SMS. We build the security foundations that enable Decagon's AI agents to handle sensitive customer data with complete trust while defending against sophisticated, AI-enabled threats at massive scale.

Our mission is to secure our growing platform, ensuring that AI agents and human agents can collaborate safely to help users resolve their issues while maintaining the highest standards of security and privacy.

About the Role

Join Decagon as a Software Engineer, Security where you'll apply strong engineering skills to solve complex security challenges. You'll build some security tools from the ground up while improving our existing systems, with an immediate focus on projects like creating tools that automatically remediate security findings from static analysis scans.

This role is for strong engineers who want to apply their skills to security problems, working directly with our Director of Security to shape how we protect our conversational AI platform and internal tooling.

Engineers here own their work end-to-end and are trusted to make a real impact. This role is for someone who dives deep into complex system challenges and builds elegant solutions that scale to millions of users. This is a individual contributor role focused on scalable security solutions and execution.

In this role, you will

Design and build and operationalize security tooling, about 50% development, 50% systems design and operations

Design and collaborate with other engineering teams to implement and review authentication systems, secrets management, and IT automation

Create detection pipelines that scale with millions of daily AI agent interactions

Create automated testing and remediation pipelines integrated into CI / CD workflows

Meet leaders across industries like finance, healthcare and hospitality, solving their security and compliance requirements at scale.

Develop software engineering, infrastructure, and security expertise to accelerate career growth.

Your background looks something like this

Have 3+ years of software engineering experience building production-level systems

Strong CS fundamentals with genuine interest in security problems such as authentication, authorization, and application security

Track record of shipping code quickly and iterating based on feedback

Bias towards action

Software engineering skills in Python, Go, Terraform, or other languages

Natural curiosity about new technologies and approaches to security problems

Excited to work with bright colleagues out of our downtown SF office

Even better

Experience building developer tools or automation

Background with static analysis tools (Semgrep, CodeQL)

Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern development practices (data pipelines, infrastructure as code)

Comfortable working across the entire stack to solve problems
