Scope of Service : The Recovery Support Specialist II (RSS / II) Provides comprehensive community-based residential and support services to persons with mental health, intellectual, and addiction needs. Provides hands-on, intensive skill-building interventions and supports to enrich and achieve an overall level of independence and well-being with persons served. Collaborates with Community Support Specialists / Case Managers and the program to support individuals in achieving aspirations through person-centered, strengths-based, and culturally competent methods.
Recovery Support Specialist II (RSS / II) is experienced in the field of health and human services and has served in capacity of a Peer Specialist / Recovery Support Specialist for a minimum of one (1) year. In addition to providing recovery support services and serving as a consumer advocate,
RSS II works in a leadership role mentoring and coaching fellow peers, facilitating groups, and / or develops and implements recovery plans to assist clients in pursuing their recovery goals. As identified, RSS II provides hands-on instruction with activities of daily living, life-skill and wellness coaching, and provides case management activities as required. Reports to the Director of South-Central Peer Services. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Participates in dual supervision between site supervisor and Continuum South-Central Peer Services Manager.

Develops individual recovery and / or wellness plans as indicated.Assists clients to access community resources, travel planning, and transportationefforts.
Attends and participates in identified collaborative team and external communitymeetings as indicated.
Facilitates / co-facilitates psycho-educational groups as indicated.Maintains client records and reporting documentation as indicated by the agency.Attends and participates in monthly staff and supervision meetings.Conducts regular apartment / house inspections and supports clients inmaintaining overall cleanliness.
Environmental and Mentoring Responsibilities :
Coaches and mentors RSS interns during their practicum placements.Mentors and serves as a lead RSS in programs where more than one RSS ispresent.
In collaboration with Director of South-Central Peer Services, co-facilitates RSSself-care and supervision groups as indicated.
Provides support and accountability during fidelity, quality, and licensing reviews.Maintains a clean, well-organized work environment and reports environmentalconcerns as identified.
Participates in upkeep and sanitation of common areas, kitchens, bathrooms andother areas as identified.
Participates in Food Bank activities as assigned and applicable.Participates in property upkeep and general office maintenance that supportsworkplace safety.
Completes other designated environmental tasks as assigned.Quality Assurance - Chart Documentation and Professional Development :
Adheres to policies and practices as outlined in the staff handbook and programoperations manual.
Consistently works in a respectful, constructive, and cooperative manner.Upholds all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)regulations

Adheres to the standards of the Council on the Accreditation of RehabilitationFacilities (CARF).
Participates in agency committee work when available or as permitted.Completes all trainings as required per program contract and agency policy.Attends agency sponsored in-services, outside trainings, conferences andmeetings to facilitate continued professional growth and ensure the quality of
case management practices.
Qualifications :
RSS II - Associates degree or 60 credits toward a Bachelor's degree preferredwith a minimum of one (1) year employed as a Recovery Support Specialist I.
High school diploma or equivalent considered if accompanied with a CT
Recovery University Certification and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in
related behavioral health field.
First Aid / CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days ofhire. Employee is responsible to maintain ongoing certification.
Valid Connecticut Driver's license is required with the willingness to transportclients in personal vehicles for RSS II positions. Position requires the employee
to maintain reliable transportation and the minimum required CT State
automobile liability insurance (Public Act No. 17-114).
Proficient computer skills required, including Microsoft Office and electronicrecord keeping.
