PURPOSE :
The Laboratory Information Systems Analyst – Technical / Device Support provides hands-on IT and technical support to the laboratory team, with a focus on the VitalAxis Laboratory Information System (LIS), related lab devices, and IT infrastructure. This role is the first line of support for LIS users, ensures proper integration of lab instruments and devices, and maintains reliable computing and networking in the lab environment.
The Analyst bridges the gap between laboratory operations and IT, enabling lab staff to focus on clinical and diagnostic work by resolving technical issues quickly and ensuring systems and equipment operate seamlessly.
LIS Support
- Serve as first-level support for the VitalAxis LIS, assisting staff with system use, troubleshooting issues, and configuring user devices.
- Support device integrations with VitalAxis (slide scanners, printers, barcode devices, imaging systems, etc.).
- Document recurring issues and create reference materials to help users navigate the LIS effectively.
- Escalate unresolved issues to IT applications leadership or LIS vendor as appropriate.
Technical & Device Support
Install, configure, and maintain lab workstations, laptops, printers, and peripherals.Set up and support specialized lab equipment and ensure connectivity to LIS or other lab systems.Collaborate with vendors on equipment integrations and technical troubleshooting.Maintain accurate inventory of lab IT hardware and related devices.Infrastructure & Networking
Provide day-to-day desktop and infrastructure support in the lab environment.Troubleshoot network connectivity issues; assist with extending network coverage within the lab as needed.Work with IT infrastructure team to ensure security, reliability, and compliance with organizational IT standards.Collaboration & User Support
Serve as the go-to resource for lab staff experiencing IT-related challenges.Partner closely with lab leadership to anticipate upcoming technical needs (new equipment, process changes, etc.).Provide training and support to lab staff on LIS functionality, IT best practices, and device use.Participate in lab-related IT projects, including new system implementations or upgrades.Requirements
Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience.2+ years of IT support or technical analyst experience, ideally within a healthcare or laboratory environment.Knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking fundamentals, and hardware support.Familiarity with LIS or EMR systems (VitalAxis experience strongly preferred).Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with ability to explain solutions to non-technical users.Excellent communication and customer service orientation.Travel 10 - 15%, including overnight in one of our 17 statesPreferred
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Healthcare Informatics, or related field.Experience supporting laboratory instruments or medical devices.Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and healthcare IT security best practices.Prior experience with system / device integrations in lab or healthcare settings.Technical / Device SupportBenefits
