About the job :

Advantra is partnering with an early-stage biotech software startup in San Francisco to hire a Founding Engineer to scale core infrastructure and customer-facing computational biology tools.

About the role :

You will maintain and expand the infrastructure powering drug discovery software, including web interfaces and APIs. You will work directly with founders and customers to prioritize and build features that meet real needs.

Responsibilities :

• Design, build, and maintain web interfaces and APIs for computational biology tools.
• Scale infrastructure to support diverse customer workflows and high-performance computing tasks.
• Collaborate with founders to identify and implement key features.
• Interface directly with customers to understand needs and deliver solutions.
• Implement automation and DevOps processes for cloud and ML workloads.
• Optimize batch HPC workflows and computational pipelines.
• Contribute to technical planning and system architecture decisions.
• Maintain high reliability and performance across production systems.
• Document systems, workflows, and best practices.

Core requirements :

Comfort working on diverse technical problems across backend, frontend, and ML pipelines.
