A rapidly growing ecological restoration firm is seeking a Project Manager to lead planning, execution, and delivery of restoration projects across forests, meadows, streams, and working lands in the Mid-Atlantic. This role requires someone who is equally comfortable managing people, logistics, budgets, and client expectations as they are overseeing field implementation. It is a key leadership position with direct influence on project quality and ecological outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of restoration projects including planning, field execution, monitoring, and reporting
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, internal teams, and client communication
- Lead permitting activities, design collaboration, and site assessments
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients : agencies, nonprofits, private landowners, and municipalities
- Support hiring, mentoring, and development of Field Leaders and field technicians
- Ensure safety, quality, and ecological standards are consistently met by field crews
- Coordinate with internal nursery / logistics teams for plant materials, equipment, and supplies
- Produce clear documentation, progress updates, and project close-out materials
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in ecology, environmental science, landscape architecture, agriculture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)3+ years of experience managing environmental, construction, or land-based restoration projectsStrong understanding of native plant communities, ecological processes, and / or environmental permittingExcellent organizational, communication, and client-facing skillsAbility to travel regionally and provide on-site leadership as requiredProven ability to lead teams in high-accountability, field-based environmentsCompensation & Benefits
