The IBM iSeries (AS400) system operations and administration position involves providing technical support and managing daily operations.
The role requires a strong focus on customer service, system administration tasks, and collaboration with the support team.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for AS / 400 environments.
- Perform backups, migrations, release updates, PTFs, and disaster recovery testing.
- Assist with system administration and perform system restores.
- Work closely with application developers and third-party vendors to support, troubleshoot, and enhance external applications running on IBM systems.
- Troubleshoot system problems and assist with help desk tasks.
- Creating and managing system user profiles, assigning and revoking user profile rights / authorities, and resetting user profile statuses.
- Managing system database tables, monitoring, handling record locks, and performing regular system table maintenance
- Manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the AS400 system.
- Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance.
- Install software updates.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Implement security measures and manage user access.
- Conduct regular system backups and recovery processes.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to optimize system use.
- Develop and maintain system documentation and procedures.
