The Production Maintenance Technician ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment. This hands-on role involves performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production machinery to support continuous operations and compliance with cGMP standards. The position is tiered into three levels (I, II, III), reflecting increasing accountability, technical skill, and leadership responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and routine maintenance (calibrations, PMs) on production equipment.
Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues.
Support equipment changeovers, set-ups, and retrofits, including qualification activities.
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, work orders, and cGMP records.
Monitor inventory and procure necessary replacement parts to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to resolve equipment issues.
Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve uptime.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to optimize reliability and efficiency.
Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
May assume temporary leadership duties in the absence of the Team Leader (Level III).
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical or similar preferred).
Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Experience with process equipment such as granulation, encapsulation, compression, coating, blending, and packaging systems.
Working knowledge of technical drawings, schematics, and automation systems (PLC, OIT, control loops).
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on maintenance tasks safely.
