Position Summary
The Environmental Services Technician V isresponsible for executing the daily dutiesrequired to establish and maintain a safe, clean, and
healing environment. Responsible for performing duties in accordance with established organizational policies and procedures for
providing a safe environment, achieved by demonstrating the principles of cleaning, disinfection, and quality assurance toward the
reduction of harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff. While executing the assigned tasks, the floor technician
will have contact with patients and family. Possesses technical skills required to properly use cleaning and maintenance chemicals, floor
equipment prescribed by written procedures of the environmental services department. Responsible for responding favorably to requests
to adjust daily workflow or area assignments to meet facility needs.
Essential Functions
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, using appropriate designated engagement techniques.
- Performs all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, include hard surfaces and carpeting.
- Adheresto all organizationalsafety, risk management and infection control standards while promoting a culture ofsafety.
- Cleans and performs routine maintenance on floor equipment; requesting assistance from plant operations and maintenance as
needed.
Maintains accurate floor care logs and checklists.Able to mix chemicals according to instructions.Understanding of what pads, brushes, and screensto use for each flooring job.Operates all equipment with care and according to facility and manufacturerssafety standards and procedures.Maintains key log for equipmentsign-in / out.Use communication devices properly.Participatesin departmental performance improvementinitiatives, including but notlimited to initiativesto improve HCAHPS scoresas it relates to hospital cleanliness & "always quiet."
Performs project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs; can include taskssuch as conference room set up / dismantleaccording to function sheets and schedules, and cleaning of stairwells and elevators.
Removes waste and transport to appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream (i.e., regulated medical,recycle, solid, and hazardous).
Follow all infection prevention practices including proper cleaning process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions whereand if required and proper use of personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)Operates UV disinfection machine as needed or according to policy.Completes other assigned task by EVS Leadership.Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal,state, and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.Other Related Functions
Identifies and utilizes appropriate resourcesto ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.Adheresto all Standards of Precaution, SDS and Hand Hygiene directives.Must complete all mandatory training as designated and required.Attendance in services / meetings asrequired.Participatesin departmental quality assurance and improvement activities as appropriate.Practices critical thinking skills to include prioritization of duties and immediate needs / requests(Stat cleans).Identify and utilize appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through.Demonstrates knowledge of facility safety requirements.Demonstrates the ability to operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect theenvironment.
Assists in onboarding new Environmental Services Technicians I, II, III and IV and V's asrequested.Reports unsafe situations and turnsin Engineering Service Requests for repair.Education / Training
High School Diploma or GED required.
Licensure / Certification
Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST), preferred.Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT), preferred.DOT CertificatemandatoryCompleted a Comprehensive Floor Care ProgramExperience
4 or more-year Environmental Services ExperiencePrevious floor / carpet care maintenance experience required.4 or more years' experience in Floor care work.
