656 bed general acute care hospital. Level II trauma center, both adult and pediatric (60,000 visits annually)

• Ankle arthrodesis
• Achilles surgery
• Arthroscopy (ankle, elbow, hip, knee, shoulder)
• Fracture repair
• Fusion of foot and ankle joints
• Hand surgery
• Nail removal
• Nerve repair
• Partial knee replacement
• Sports medicine surgeries
• Tendon repair
• Total joint replacement (ankle, hip, knee and shoulder)

Ortho surgeries :

• ACL, MCL and PCL repair
• Carpal tunnel release
• Cubital tunnel release
• Decompression surgery
• Knee cartilage repair
• Knee ligament reconstruction
• Revision procedures
• Rotator cuff repair

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Practices safe patient handling techniques.
• Continues to evaluate assigned patients and provides ongoing treatment.
• Anticipates, identifies, and responds to educational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e. Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e. IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices).
• Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms whenever available to maximize patient safety.
• Initiates emergency support measures (i.e. cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury).
• Assists with patient care duties / tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene).

QUALIFICATIONS

• BLS and ACLS
• National Institutes of Health (NIH)
• Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• The ability to stand for extended periods.
• Strong technical skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Passionate about patient care
• Requires a minimum of two years of current RN Ortho / Trauma Telemetry experience.
• Graduate from a fully accredited RN program
• Active unencumbered RN Iowa state license
• One year of Cerner experience
