Instructional Assistant
Minimum 1+ years paraprofessional or special education experience required.
We are currently seeking a Special Education Instructional Assistant to join our team in San Jose, CA. As an Instructional Assistant, you will assist teacher(s) and / or other certificated personnel by performing a variety of instructional support duties to individual or small groups of Special Education pupils.
You will work in a classroom or resource environment, providing support to students encompassing a range of physical, emotional, intellectual, and communication disabilities.
Additionally, you will assist in the establishment and maintenance of appropriate classroom and site behavior and perform routine clerical tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Provide instructional support to individual or small groups of Special Education pupils as directed by the teacher(s) or certificated personnel.
- Assist in the establishment and maintenance of appropriate classroom and site behavior.
- Perform a variety of instructional support duties, including reinforcing instruction, facilitating activities, and assisting with assignments.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom setup.
- Monitor and oversee student activities, drills, and assignments.
- Assist in maintaining student records and files.
- Perform routine clerical tasks as assigned.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred.
- Knowledge of instructional support principles and practices.
- Ability to work effectively with students with physical, emotional, intellectual, and communication disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain appropriate classroom behavior.
- Proficiency in basic clerical tasks.
Working Conditions :
- Environment : Classroom or resource environment.
- Physical Demands : Sitting or standing for extended periods, assisting students with physical needs, lifting objects up to 20 pounds.
