About Us :

SMI Architectural Millwork is a specialty manufacturer in Orange County, CA of custom millwork, casework, metalwork and upholstery for high-end commercial projects. With approximately 45 employees, we combine precision craftsmanship and collaborative design-to-fabrication workflows to deliver industry-leading solutions.

What You’ll Do :

• Lead our drafting team (2–3 full-time drafters), transitioning into full engineering management as drafting operations are stabilized.
• Translate architectural / designer drawings, specifications and provided estimates into detailed shop drawings and production documentation.
• Produce 2D millwork and casework drawings using AutoCAD, manage submittals for drawings, materials and hardware.
• Maintain and refine CAD templates, libraries, file management systems and engineering workflows.
• Perform engineering work in Cabinet Vision; update libraries and coordinate with manufacturing and production teams.
• Interpret ADA, building and fabrication requirements; ensure smooth collaboration between the engineering department, project management and the shop floor.
• Partner closely with Project Managers on multiple concurrent projects to ensure accurate project listings, fabrication details and installation readiness.
• Identify and implement improvements in production, fabrication and installation workflows — supporting efficiency and quality.
