OVERVIEW
Associated Students, Inc. employs student-focused professionals with equity mindsets. Established in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI is considered a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs, with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 27,000 students, by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and a multitude of programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. ASI is engaged in the work of being a learning organization. Currently, the guiding ideas of the organization are “under construction” as the team re-imagines its vision, mission, and core values. ASI is looking for dynamic team members who value team learning, co-creation, and adaptability to best serve the needs of our students.
The Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex (BRIC) manages the ASI Cal Poly Pomona PADI Education SCUBA Dive Center which primarily focuses on providing on and off-campus scuba experiences and courses for the campus and greater community through a series of regularly scheduled land and water-based workshops, try-its, certification courses, and professional level training.
POSITION DEFINITION
Under general supervision from the Scuba Coordinator, the SCUBA Instructor I is responsible for promoting the SCUBA program at the Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex (BRIC). The SCUBA Instructor I is responsible for facilitation of safe, effective, and fun SCUBA-based classes in a group setting and performing skilled tasks requiring moderate on-the-job training, specialized skills, independent judgment, and decision-making.

Work Environment
Work is typically performed outdoors in varying and occasionally extreme weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally sit for extended periods and regularly walk around the facility, talk, and hear. The employee must frequently move 10 pounds, occasionally lift and / or move up to 45 pounds and be able to lift a person out of water. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
