We’re building out our in-house dental lab and are seeking a Dental Lab Assistant to oversee administrative workflows while also training in lab processes. This is a great opportunity for a dental professional with experience in the field who wants to expand their skills into the lab environment.
Position Summary
The Dental Lab Assistant will be responsible for the administrative management of lab operations — including digital case submissions, lab communications, and workflow tracking — while also training on hands-on lab techniques such as scanning, CAD / CAM support, and finishing. Dental experience is required, as familiarity with dental terminology, case types, and workflow will be key to success.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit and track all lab cases (crowns, bridges, surgical guides, aligners, etc.) using both digital and physical workflows.
- Upload intraoral scans, prescriptions, and CAD files into lab portals (CEREC, iTero, 3Shape, Exocad, or equivalent).
- Verify prescriptions and case documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
- Maintain a detailed log of all lab cases, ensuring timely follow-up and delivery.
- Communicate directly with external labs to confirm case details, manage timelines, and handle adjustments.
- Organize lab files, manage supply inventory, and maintain compliance documentation.
- Receive training in CAD / CAM workflows, including scanning and design support.
- Learn to operate and maintain lab equipment (scanners, milling machines, 3D printers).
- Assist with quality control and finishing tasks under supervision.
- Support lab team members with production duties as technical skills grow.
Qualifications
Previous dental experience required (dental assistant, treatment coordinator, or lab-related role).Strong knowledge of dental terminology, case types, and restorative workflows.High attention to detail with strong organizational and computer skills.Ability to manage digital files, lab submissions, and multiple deadlines.Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dentists, patients, and labs.Current CPR / BLS certification (if clinically trained).Preferred :RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) credential in Texas.Prior experience with lab case submissions or CAD / CAM administration.Exposure to dental lab equipment or digital dentistry platforms.Compensation & Benefits
