Monitor Technician - Telemetry - night shift
1. Job responsibilities include those listed in the competency document.
2. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
3. Supports the nursing process through the consent of the cardiac rhythm of patients assigned to telemetry monitoring.
4. Monitor the patient’s EKG rhythms, alerting the Nurse to changes in cardiac rate of rhythm.
5. Works closely with physicians, nurses, and nursing assistance personnel.
6. Observe confused patients at risk for harm to self or others.
7. Protects patient confidentiality
8. Document EKG rhythms for patients assigned on the medical record, or other records.
9. Maintain monitoring equipment in good working order.
10. Monitor patients via remote monitoring
11. Redirect patients to keep free from falls
12. Recognize lethal and life-threatening arrhythmias and respond appropriately.
13. Demonstrates competency in, but not limited to, the following on the Telemetry Unit (refer to McLeod Health Organizational Learning Competency Checklist) :
- Assigned Access Control Applications
- Emergency Management
- Environment
- Safety
- Infection Control / Precautions
- Communication
- Procedures
14. Provide an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for all patients, families, and visitors.
15. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Training : Successfully pass a written and didactic examination at the completion of orientation and annually required.
Licenses / Certifications / Registrations / Education :
- HS diploma preferred or Equivalent (GED) required from an accredited school
- Completion of EKG course required
