JOB SUMMARY

The Recycling Coordinator supports the planning and execution of recycling outreach and education programs for municipalities, schools, businesses, and community organizations. This position conducts commercial and residential waste assessments, ensures compliance with state and local recycling legislation, and promotes waste stream reduction. The Recycling Coordinator works directly with customers, residents, and business owners to answer questions, resolve concerns, and provide outstanding customer service while encouraging sustainable practices.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (other duties may be assigned)

• Provide courteous, professional, and effective customer service when engaging with residents, businesses, and community members.
• Conduct site visits, audits, and waste assessments for residential, commercial, and multi-family properties.
• Educate customers and the public through outreach events, presentations, workshops, and training sessions.
• Administer and monitor recycling programs for schools, businesses, multi-family units, and government entities.
• Assist customers with troubleshooting recycling services and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
• Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reports.
• Collaborate with City staff, internal departments, and community stakeholders to support recycling initiatives.
• Drive company vehicle to perform site visits, audits, and community outreach.
• Stay informed on current recycling legislation (SB 1383, AB 341, etc.) and ensure program compliance.
