Saturday Counselor

We currently offer two Saturday recreation programs - one focused on recreation and the other on social skills for children with autism. All programs include skill enhancement activities such as music, arts and crafts, cooking, movement dance, and indoor and outdoor play. Swimming in the outdoor pool is available during the summer months.

Responsibilities :

• Assist the Lead Counselor in planning structured activities appropriate for children's ages and abilities.
• Ensure the well-being and safety of children at all times.
• Organize assigned groups and participate in swim activities.
• Ensure children attend all scheduled activities and bring children to the Nurse for medication as required.
• Maintain behavior management and a safe environment in homeroom and activity areas.
• Create activities when no scheduled activity is available or if an activity is canceled.
• Maintain open communication with parents, offering support and encouragement.
• Ensure children have enjoyable and appropriate experiences throughout the day.
• Report incidents to the Nurse and Program Coordinator or designee.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the supervisor.

Cultural Competencies :

Ensure safety procedures are followed and report unsafe acts or hazards immediately.

Minimum Requirements :

Physical aspects may include lifting and transferring children / adults.
