We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Winchester, Virginia. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records while supporting a variety of accounting operations. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to financial reporting, reconciliations, and team development.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare and publish accurate monthly consolidated financial statements, ensuring they reflect the company's financial position.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, investigating and resolving discrepancies to maintain data integrity.
- Develop supporting schedules and perform analyses for month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Review financial data to identify trends and variances, providing actionable insights to management.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Reconcile bank statements for multiple store locations and corporate accounts, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Oversee cash flow management, ensuring proper documentation for all transactions and transfers.
- Review and approve journal entries, verifying proper account coding and supporting documentation.
- Provide training and guidance to accounting staff, fostering adherence to best practices and procedural compliance.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, month-end close processes, and general ledger management.
- Strong knowledge of account reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Proficiency in cash flow monitoring and related documentation.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and variances in financial data.
- Experience with accounting software and the ability to adapt to new systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and train staff.
- Familiarity with audit processes and compliance with accounting standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA certification is a plus.
