American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry unit, requiring a current AZ or compact license and Level 1 trauma experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in an acute care Cardiac Telemetry unitPatient ratios range from 1 : 3 to 1 : 4 on Tower 7Patient cases include CABG, MVR, STEMI, heart failure, vascular repair, and post-op cardiovascular surgeryRNs must titrate drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, and AmiodaroneGE telemetry packs and monitors are used on the unitCerner is the EMR in useDay shifts are 12 hours with self-scheduling permittedRequires 3-4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks and coverage for 2 out of 4 major holidaysNavy blue scrubs are required, but not providedUnit-specific orientation lasts 2 daysRNs are responsible for titrating cardiac drips and interpreting telemetry rhythmsCollaboration with off-unit tele techs and a resource / charge nurse who typically does not take patientsPhysical Therapist (PCT) support is 1 PCT per 16 bedsCpap, BiPap, and high-flow nasal cannula respiratory equipment is used on the unitAll travelers may float to other applicable areas as neededFirst day includes a pass / fail SIMs Lab on sterile technique; competence in these areas is expected for continued assignmentMen must be clean-shaven for fit testing, and all nurses must have natural hair color and no facial piercingsFormer employees of the health system within the past year are not eligible for considerationCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility as verified by driver’s license\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at the time of considerationMinimum 2 years of RN experience, with Level 1 trauma experience requiredCurrent BLS certification requiredAbility to interpret common telemetry rhythms is necessaryMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with 2 attempts permittedMust pass a sterile technique SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day 1Experience with post-op cardiovascular surgery patients is highly recommendedDriver’s license required for eligibility and to meet the 50-mile radius requirement\n Benefits\n
