Industry Manager (Director Of Sales)

CVS Media Exchange is hiring an Industry Manager (Director of Sales) for our General Merchandise and Consumables (GMC) sales team. This role will report to the Head of Sales.

CVS Media Exchange [CMX] is dedicated to driving measurable outcomes for our suppliers, merchants, stores, GMs, brand advertisers, and agencies. Our full-funnel ad solutions leverage CVS's in-store and online data, extensive reach, and to provide measurable results for our clientele. With a range of flexible pricing and buying models, including self-service; these solutions help businesses build brand awareness, engage with CVS consumers, and convert CVS consumers to shoppers.

Hybrid model with 2 onsite days / week (Tues / Wed) at one of these locations :

  • Boston, MA or Wellesley, MA
  • Woonsocket, RI
  • New York / Soho area, NY
  • Blue Bell, PA
  • Chicago, IL

Responsibilities include :

Creates sales strategy and builds a culture of collaboration to achieve industry-wide sales targets within the annual operating plan by building plans to achieve internal annual objectives

Developing a sales strategy for instore with a minimum sales target of around $30M+; finalizing revenue targets for each account along with general managers based on past trend analysis

Recommending broad approaches and areas of opportunities to meet the targets and long-range plans to senior leadership and team : highlighting areas of concern or bottlenecks to the leadership team

Understanding the industry strategy across other departments including, marketing, eCommerce marketing, product, strategy and in-store

Partnering with internal and external stakeholders including, merchandising heads, general managers, senior partners of suppliers, agencies and marketers to drive the business forward

Lead by example by providing direction and guidance to associates on best-in-class approach to all of CMX's offerings including onsite, offsite, social, and instore; Conducting weekly meetings, providing constructive feedback to partner associates to enhance skills, knowledge, brand perception, institutional knowledge, and work performance; conducting performance and career development conversations; engaging and mentoring less experienced managers and associates.

Oversees and is responsible for financial results in area of responsibility by building action plans to achieve annual objectives across various groups (for example, product, platform, operations, finance, marketing, research, strategy, and sales)

Driving a cross-team / functional workstream; tracking against key performance metrics; creating a playbook for the industry in partnership with other industry managers; crafting conference-worthy case studies that demonstrate the approach, solution provided, success story, and results achieved by the marketer.

Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes

Measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.

Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.

Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.

Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.

Own strategic high-level relationships within the General Merchandise and Consumables space that results in leveraging CMX's full omni-channel solutions for GM&C brands

Required Qualifications :

10+ years' experience in advertising sales, advertising and sales

3+ years' experience managing high performing media sales teams. Strong portfolio of relationships within the General Merchandise and Consumables (GMC) space.

Experience with retail media or retail / ecommerce agency experience

Preferred Qualifications :

Prior Retail Media Network, shopper marketing sales, eCommerce sales and / or retail advertising sales experience

Experience in brand advertising (for example, TV or video, sponsorship), media sales, customer acquisition and growth, search, mobile and online sales

Previous traditional sales experience, preferably in digital media with GMC clients

Brand category management experience

Excellent communication skills that can be effectively articulated in both written and verbal forms across a diverse audience base.

Education :

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Advertising or Consumer Psychology or equivalent (HS Diploma and 4 years of experience) required

Masters degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is :

$105,000.00 - $231,132.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
