Overview :

Diversey is seeking a driven Account Manager with strong experience working directly inside food and beverage plants. In this critical role, you'll be responsible for supporting and expanding relationships with existing plant accounts while actively developing new business opportunities in the food and beverage manufacturing sector.

What You'll Do :

The primary responsibility is to grow business within food and beverage processing plants, while maintaining and strengthening relationships through exceptional in-plant technical service and support.

Your role will be highly plant-focused, requiring you to spend most of your time inside facilities - understanding plant operations, troubleshooting sanitation and chemical application systems, and identifying process improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Business Development / Sales - Cold calls, prospecting, survey / audits, presentations
  • Servicing Accounts - Plant chemical management, sanitation program review, training on safety, chemical use concentrations, trouble shooting on cleaning issues, identify plant operational savings in water, energy and labor
  • Account profitability review, review of products sold to accounts on an ongoing basis.
  • Time Management for monthly service and reporting, presentation skills. Office support i.e. email and phone communications, report writing, and continuing account manager education.

Business Development & Sales :

  • Cold calling, prospecting, plant surveys, audits, and delivering technical presentations targeted at food and beverage plant needs.
  • Identifying new opportunities to improve plant sanitation programs and reduce operational costs (e.g., water, energy, and labor savings).
  • Plant-Based Service & Support :

  • Managing plant chemical programs, including dosing and application optimization.
  • Conducting sanitation program reviews and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Providing in-plant training on chemical safety, correct usage concentrations, and hygiene best practices.
  • Troubleshooting cleaning challenges and operational issues directly on the plant floor.
  • Account Management :

  • Regularly reviewing account profitability and optimizing product portfolios for each plant.
  • Maintaining detailed service reports, monthly plant visit documentation, and providing actionable insights to plant leadership teams.
  • Administrative & Communication Tasks :

  • Time management for service scheduling and reporting.
  • Office tasks including emails, calls, and report preparation.
  • Continuous learning to stay current on sanitation technology and plant operations best practices.
  • What You'll Bring :

  • BA / BS Degree. Preferred in Food, Dairy, or Meat Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, and / or Life Sciences. Consider applicable and extensive experience in food manufacturing operations with high school diploma in lieu of degree.
  • Specialty chemical sales relative to the Food and Beverage customer base
  • 3-5 years of experience in food, dairy, and / or beverage manufacturing plant
  • 5+ years of experience with : Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Gmail
  • Ability to travel up to 75% (Roughly a 200~ mile sales territory)
  • Valid Driver's License & Pass Hiring Screenings (Background, Drug, Employment, Physical)
  • Good understanding of Clean-In-Place (CIP) in food, beverage, and dairy operation(s).
  • Ability to work flexible hours (nights and weekends) to accommodate cleaning operations and preventative maintenance schedules within plants.
  • Ability to work in an industrial plant environment and remain compliant with all company and customer plant, safety, and OSHA requirements.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Previous cleaning chemical sales / service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken) with ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

    The expected compensation range for this position is between $83,500.00 and $139,100.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
