An esteemed Automotive Dealer Group in the greater Hampton / Newport News area is currently seeking a Dealership Controller to guide a seasoned accounting team, implement best practices, and provide the financial insights that shape long-term profitability and growth. If you have previous experience as an Automotive Controller or Office Manager and are ready to step into a high-impact leadership role , we want to hear from you! CFO or Senior Accountant experience within a dealership setting will also be considered.

Responsibilities - Controller :
Oversee all dealership accounting operations , including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General LedgerPrepare and analyze consolidated and store-level financial statements, manufacturer reports, and monthly closing packagesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations , coordinating audits and tax filingsMonitor cash flow, manage assets and liabilities, and safeguard company resourcesCollaborate with Dealer Principal, General Manager, and Department Heads on budgets, forecasting, and profitability goalsStrengthen internal controls and best practices to ensure accuracy and efficiencyLead, train, and develop accounting staff while maintaining a culture of accountability and growthPartner with external auditors, CPAs, and OEM representativesProvide financial insights to support strategic decision-makingQualifications - Controller :
3+ years of proven experience as a Controller or Office Manager in the automotive field or related industryCFO or Senior Accountant within a dealership setting will also be consideredAdvanced knowledge of GAAP, dealership accounting standards, and financial reportingProficiency with dealership management systems such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or DealertrackStrong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to oversee accounting operations across several rooftopsExceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities with a focus on resultsHigh integrity and confidentiality in managing financial dataValid driver's licenseCandidate must pass pre-employment screeningWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
